About the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Department

The Health, Safety & Wellbeing Department sits within the People and Culture Directorate at Austin Health. Based at Repatriation Hospital and is responsible for providing advisory services, strategic direction and planning for the workforce health, safety and wellbeing across all campuses, covering approximately 11,000 employees.

Key areas of responsibility include occupational health and safety management; injury management and return to work; safety and wellbeing education and training; emergency preparedness and business continuity and the wellbeing program.

About the role

As the Workforce Injury and Recovery Manager, you will provide strategic leadership to deliver injury management and workers compensation service across Austin Health. Working closely with leaders, employees and external partners, you will drive best-practice injury management and early intervention strategies that support injured employees to safely remain at work or return to work following injury.

A regular day will see you:





- Lead and develop a high-performing team of Injury and Recovery Specialists to deliver best-practice injury management and return-to-work outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement of workers compensation, injury management and return-to-work performance across Austin Health.
- Provide expert advice and support to leaders and employees on injury management, claims management and return-to-work matters.
- Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, insurers, rehabilitation providers and regulatory bodies to achieve successful claims and recovery outcomes.
- Analyse injury and claims data to identify trends, monitor performance and inform preventative strategies that reduce workplace risk.
- Ensure compliance with legislative requirements while maintaining effective policies, systems and frameworks that support early intervention and employee recovery.

About you

To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:

- Exceptional experience leading workers compensation, injury management and return-to-work programs within a complex organisation.
- A passion for supporting employee wellbeing and recovery, underpinned by contemporary injury management and early intervention practices.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing teams in a collaborative and values-driven environment.
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with leaders, employees, insurers and external partners.
- Highly developed analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate insights into meaningful organisational outcomes.
