The Role
Arrahman College invites applications for a Head of Sport, Health, and Physical Education, a key leadership role that will oversee the development and delivery of a comprehensive K–8 sport, health, and wellbeing program. This role will also play a strategic part in growing co-curricular programs and supporting a college-wide culture of physical activity, health, and holistic wellbeing.
The successful candidate will:
- Lead the development and implementation of a curriculum-aligned Sport, Health, and PE program, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning experiences.
- Coordinate and manage school sport and physical activity programs, including competitions, carnivals,
and extracurricular opportunities.
- Promote student wellbeing, engagement, and positive lifestyle habits through sport, health, and physical education initiatives.
- Mentor and support staff in effective PE teaching strategies, behaviour management, and student engagement.
- Oversee the planning, resourcing, and scheduling of sporting and PE activities, ensuring safe and inclusive environments.
- Support strong community partnerships to enhance student participation and access to external sporting and health programs.
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning, facility development, and co-curricular programming.
- Ensure all programs and practices align with Islamic values, child safety policies, and NESA curriculum requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evaluate innovative PE and sport programs that cater to all student abilities.
- Lead staff professional development in areas including PE pedagogy, student wellbeing, and engagement.
- Develop and monitor tiered strategies for student participation and achievement in sport and physical activities.
- Promote a culture of inclusion, teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship.
- Manage budgets, resources, and scheduling for PE and sporting programs.
- Coordinate participation in inter-school competitions, community events, and sporting carnivals.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and community members to enhance student experiences and outcomes.
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated commitment to the Islamic ethos of the College.
- Relevant teaching qualifications with NESA accreditation (Proficient or higher).
- Extensive experience in teaching and leading Sport, Health, and PE programs in schools.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop staff.
- Knowledge of current trends in physical education, sport, and student wellbeing.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage programs, events, and resources effectively.
- Ability to develop inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environments.
- Commitment to child safety and wellbeing, acting professionally and maintaining confidentiality.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in managing school sport programs, inter-school competitions, and carnivals.
- Experience working in an Islamic or Faith-Based school context.
- Knowledge of coaching, talent development, or sport pathways for students.
- Experience leading health and wellbeing initiatives, including nutrition, mental health, or physical literacy programs.
Flexibility of Duties
While the primary focus of this role is leading Sport, Health, and PE programs, the successful applicant may also be required to teach related subjects or undertake other reasonable teaching duties to support the operational needs of the College.

Remuneration: Salary will align with the Independent Schools (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025 at the successful applicant's level of responsibility and experience.
