Role focus:

Reporting to the Lead, the Specialist Engineer is accountable for leading the design, development, and implementation of specialised engineering solutions that enhance data processing, integration, and accessibility, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organisational policies.

Key responsibilities:

- Provides professional advice that informs operational leadership and influences the translation of strategy into operations in their specialist area.
- Oversees the provision of specialist advice by others. Consolidates expertise from multiple sources, including third-party experts, to provide coherent and professionally sound advice to further organisational objectives.
- Designs large or complex systems and undertakes impact analysis on major design options and trade-offs.
- Ensures the system design balances functional and non-functional requirements.
- Reviews systems designs and ensures appropriate methods, tools and techniques are applied effectively.



Makes recommendations and assesses and manages associated risks.
- Ensure continuous improvement initiatives are delivered to enhance development processes, methodologies, and best practices across area of specialisation.
- Supports monitoring of the external workplace and assessment of emerging technologies.
- Contributes to the creation of reports, technology roadmapping and the sharing of knowledge and insights.

Requirements of the role

- 8 years of experience leading design and development of complex solutions, working on specialised projects such as advanced database systems, performing design assurance and optimising software
- advanced programming, security protocols and risk management in software development
- managing software integrations and quality assurance
