Take ownership of a large-scale fabrication workshop where safety, quality and delivery come first.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Workshop Manager to lead a team of around 60 people, drive operational performance and play a key role in delivering major structural steel projects. Offering a salary of $130,000 to $150,000 + super, this role is ideal for a hands‑on leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Who you will be working with
Our client is a well-established structural steel fabrication business with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across commercial and industrial sectors. With a skilled workforce and a focus on continuous improvement, they are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, workmanship and customer satisfaction. You'll lead an experienced team including Production Coordinators, Workshop Supervisors, Leading Hands and approximately 50 workshop employees.

Duties and responsibilities
- Lead all workshop operations to ensure production targets,
safety and quality standards are consistently achieved
- Manage production planning, labour allocation and workshop resources to meet delivery deadlines
- Coach, mentor and develop supervisors, leading hands and production teams to build a high-performing culture
- Monitor productivity, quality, labour utilisation and continuous improvement initiatives across the workshop
- Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, quality systems, WHS legislation and company procedures
- Collaborate with Planning, QA, Purchasing, Transport and Project Teams to deliver projects on time and within budget
We are looking for someone with
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Workshop Manager, Production Manager, Fabrication Manager or similar leadership role within structural steel fabrication
- Demonstrated experience leading large fabrication workshop teams and delivering solid safety, quality and production outcomes
- Sound understanding of structural steel fabrication processes, workshop operations and production planning
- Experience working within Australian structural steel fabrication standards and quality requirements
- A Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) or Boilermaking is highly regarded but not essential
- Strong leadership, planning and communication skills with the ability to build high-performing teams
- A continuous improvement mindset with experience driving operational performance and team engagement
