Join a well-established, mixed-billing general practice located in the beautiful Whitsundays (MMM4/DPA), providing comprehensive, patient-centred healthcare to the local community and surrounding region. Their experienced multidisciplinary team includes General Practitioners, Registered Nurses, a Nurse Practitioner, visiting specialists, allied health providers and a dedicated administration team, all committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care in a friendly and supportive environment.
Services provided include:
Acute and urgent medical care
Chronic disease management and care planning
Preventive health and health assessments
Women's, men's and children's health
Mental health care and GP Mental Health Treatment Plans
Immunisations and travel medicine
Wound management and chronic wound care
Skin cancer checks and minor surgical procedures
ECG, spirometry and audiometry
Occupational and pre-employment medicals, including AMSA medicals
WorkCover and insurance medicals
Iron infusions and care coordination
Position Description:
The practice is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Registered or Enrolled Nurse to join their friendly and supportive team in the beautiful Whitsundays. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy, well-established general practice where nurses play an integral role in delivering high-quality patient care.
They welcome applications from new graduate Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses who are passionate about primary healthcare and would like to make a genuine difference within a welcoming community. Comprehensive mentoring and support will be provided by their experienced nursing and medical team to help develop your skills and confidence in general practice nursing and build a rewarding career.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality nursing care within the general practice setting
Perform immunisations in accordance with the National Immunisation Program
Conduct health assessments and assist with Chronic Disease Management and Care Plans
Provide wound care, dressings and suture removal
Assist with minor procedures, skin excisions and other clinical treatments
Perform ECGs, spirometry, audiometry and other diagnostic procedures
Undertake infection prevention and control activities, including cold chain management
Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Best Practice software
Coordinate recalls, reminders and preventative health programs
Support GP clinics, visiting specialists and multidisciplinary care
Participate in quality improvement activities and accreditation requirements
Provide patient education and health promotion initiatives
Assist with occupational health, pre-employment and maritime medical assessments where required.
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN)
Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A compassionate, patient-centred approach with a willingness to learn
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Strong organisational and time management skills
Previous experience in a general practice or primary healthcare setting
Experience with Best Practice clinical software
Immunisation certification or willingness to undertake training
Experience in wound management, chronic disease management, health assessments or treatment room nursing
Chronic Disease Management experience
Cervical Screening Provider qualification (or willingness to undertake training)
Experience with care planning, health assessments and quality improvement activities
Knowledge of QI, RACGP Accreditation Standards and Infection Prevention and Control
