About Us

Picture a career that’s more than numbers. At the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF), we’re building a world-class Treasury for South Australia—one that’s innovative, collaborative, and future-focused.

For over 120 years, Super SA has supported South Australian public sector employees to build financial security for their future. As a branch of the Department of Treasury and Finance, we are trusted to deliver reliable, member‑focused superannuation services that genuinely make a difference. Our people are at the heart of our success, working in a positive, inclusive and supportive environment where expertise is valued, collaboration is encouraged, and meaningful work is delivered every day.

We’re South Australia’s lead agency for economic, digital, and financial policy outcomes. Our work touches every corner of the state, from enabling frontline services to driving digital transformation. And we do it all with one purpose: to make life better for the people who call South Australia home.

Why This Role Matters

At Super SA, we have been helping South Australians plan for their financial future for more than 120 years. As Principal Legislation Advisor, you will play a critical role in shaping the legislative framework that underpins South Australia's public sector superannuation schemes. Working on complex and high-profile legislative reform initiatives, you will provide expert advice that influences government decision-making, supports effective governance and helps ensure Super SA’s legislative framework remains effective, compliant and responsive to an evolving regulatory environment. .

This is a unique opportunity to partner with senior leaders,

government agencies and key decision-makers to deliver meaningful legislative reform and contribute to work that has lasting impact across the State.

About The Opportunity

As a key member of the Policy, Risk and Governance Directorate, you will lead legislative reform activities across Super SA's governing legislation. You will provide specialist advice on legislative, regulatory and policy matters, as well as the application of Commonwealth superannuation and financial service frameworks in a State superannuation context, ensuring Super SA remains responsive to an evolving regulatory environment.

You will work closely with the Treasurer's Office, senior executives, government stakeholders and legal advisors to develop reform proposals, prepare drafting instructions, navigate Cabinet and Parliamentary processes, and deliver practical solutions to complex legislative challenges.

This role offers the opportunity to:

- Lead significant legislative reform projects from concept through to implementation.
- Influence policy and legislative outcomes that support the long-term success of Super SA.
- Provide trusted expert advice to senior executives, government leaders and key stakeholders.
- Work in a collaborative, high-performing environment known for tackling big challenges and seizing opportunities.
- Be part of an organisation committed to flexibility, inclusion, skilled growth and rewarding careers.

About You

You are a highly capable legislative or policy professional who enjoys navigating complexity, influencing outcomes and delivering high-quality work that makes a difference. You bring exceptional attention to detail, sound judgement and strong analytical skills, together with curiosity and the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders while balancing competing priorities.

- Proven expertise in interpreting complex State (and Commonwealth) legislation and regulatory frameworks, including within a superannuation context, and translating technical information into practical, clear and actionable advice.

- Experience leading legislative reform projects, managing policy development, stakeholder consultation and Parliamentary processes from end to end.
- Exceptional writing skills, with a track record of preparing high-quality Cabinet submissions, drafting instructions, ministerial briefings, correspondence and other complex legislative and policy documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, enabling you to interpret complex legislation, assess risks, evaluate reform options and deliver evidence-based recommendations.
- The ability to build trusted relationships and influence diverse stakeholders, navigating sensitive and complex issues with confidence and diplomacy.
- Agility, initiative and sound judgement, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a energetic environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work within competing deadlines.
