About the School
Founded in 1918, Cranbrook School is a multi-campus Anglican independent day and boarding school for students from Pre-School to Year 12. Located in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, the School educates more than 1,800 students across four campuses, including two Pre-Schools, a Junior School in Rose Bay and the Senior School in Bellevue Hill. Two boarding houses provide accommodation for students from Years 7–12.
Cranbrook is currently undertaking an exciting transition to full coeducation, welcoming girls into Years 7 and 11 in 2026 and progressing to full coeducation by 2029. About the Position
Based at the Senior School campus in Bellevue Hill, the Head of Department – TAS provides leadership across curriculum, staff development and departmental operations while maintaining an active teaching role.
To commence in term 1 2027,
the successful candidate will lead a team of teachers in delivering engaging and innovative programs aligned with the NSW curriculum and foster a collaborative and high‑performing departmental culture.
This position will be offered as a permanent teaching appointment with a five-year leadership tenure as Head of Department – TAS.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the TAS department in delivering high-quality teaching and learning programs
- Drive curriculum development aligned with the NSW syllabus and contemporary pedagogical practices
- Mentor and support staff to foster professional growth and teaching excellence
- Manage departmental planning, resources and budget
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive departmental culture
- Monitor and enhance student learning outcomes through effective teaching strategies
- Contribute actively to the broader life of the School, including its co‑cultural program
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience leading or coordinating a team within a TAS or related faculty, the ability to inspire colleagues and foster a collaborative team workplace and a commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and professional growth.
