Team Leader – Geology & Resource Estimation

Brisbane | Permanent, Full-Time | $170,000 – $190,000 + Super

ABOUT THE ROLE

People Group is partnering with a respected Australian geoscience and resources consulting company to recruit a Team Leader for their Geology and Resource Estimation (GRE) department.

Reporting to the Head of Geology and Resource Estimation, this is a senior leadership role that blends hands‑on project delivery with people management, resource coordination, and business development. You will help create an environment where consultants perform at their best, develop professionally, and deliver commercially successful outcomes for clients. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project & Client Delivery

- Collaborate with project managers and technical leads to deliver work within agreed scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
- Maintain visibility of team commitments, capacity constraints, and delivery risks
- Identify and accelerate project, resource, and client relationship risks in a timely manner
- Support clear and professional client communication and relationship management

People Leadership

- Provide regular guidance, coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback to team members
- Support performance and development discussions and coordinate staff growth plans
- Promote accountability, respectful communication, and an inclusive working environment
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning activities

Resource & Operational Management





- Coordinate team allocations in consultation with project managers and technical leads
- Review team utilisation, timesheets, leave, and forward workload to maintain accurate capacity visibility
- Ensure unallocated time is directed toward agreed business, technical, or development activities

Commercial & Business Development

- Support preparation of proposals, estimates, and project resourcing plans
- Identify opportunities for repeat work and additional client support
- Support commercially responsible project delivery, including early identification of scope change and budget risk

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will bring:

- Relevant tertiary qualification in geology or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience delivering consulting or technical work in geology and resource estimation
- Proven people leadership, team coordination, or staff development capability
- Sound project delivery skills with solid commercial awareness
- Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to manage difficult conversations professionally
- Strong planning, prioritisation, and problem‑solving skills
- Experience in proposals, business development, or client relationship management (desirable)
- Experience coaching or mentoring technical professionals (desirable)
