About RFC Ambrian

RFC Ambrian is an independent adviser, investor and venture builder in the natural resources, energy and industrial technology sectors. Alongside our corporate advisory and funds management activities, we form, fund and build companies that commercialise technologies addressing significant industrial problems. We work directly with founders, management teams, research organisations, industry participants and investors, and remain involved well beyond the initial strategy or transaction.

The role

We are seeking an Executive to join our Sydney office and support the development and growth of RFC Ambrian’s venture companies and related strategic initiatives.

Working alongside senior RFC Ambrian personnel and venture-company management teams, you will help progress technologies and projects through development, demonstration, commercialisation and growth. This will involve the practical, commercial, financial and organisational work required to turn plans and decisions into action.

You will also assist with funding and transaction work for the venture companies, including capital raisings, project finance and grant funding, and may support selected corporate advisory assignments from time to time.

The successful candidate will be involved in:

- Supporting venture-company management with business planning, commercial development and operational execution
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of project plans, budgets, financial models, forecasts and management reporting
- Contributing to technical, commercial, legal and financial workstreams, including assisting with coordination, maintaining action lists and identifying dependencies, risks and decision points




- Assisting with the preparation of board papers, decision papers, investor materials and commercial analysis
- Assessing markets, customers, competitors and commercial applications and supporting customer engagement, proposals, pricing and commercial models
- Supporting negotiations with customers, suppliers, strategic partners, government agencies, investors and lenders
- Assisting with grant applications and administration, capital raisings, project finance, due diligence and transaction execution

The ideal candidate will:

- Have approximately three to five years’ relevant experience
- Have strong commercial judgement, analytical capability and organisational skills
- Be able to take responsibility for workstreams across several companies and projects, move between detailed analysis and practical implementation, and recognise when matters require senior input
- Communicate clearly and work effectively with technical specialists, management teams, boards and advisers
- Have robust quantitative and financial skills, including financial modelling experience or the capacity to develop these skills quickly
- Be comfortable working with evolving information and adapting as projects and priorities shift
- Have exceptional intellectual and interpersonal skills
- Relevant experience may have been gained in corporate development, project management, management consulting, technology commercialisation, transaction services, corporate finance, engineering, project development or a commercial or operating role within industry.
- A tertiary qualification in engineering, science, commerce, finance, accounting, law or another relevant discipline is preferred. Experience in natural resources, energy, industrial technology or advanced manufacturing would be advantageous but is not essential.

The role is based in RFC Ambrian’s Sydney office, with travel as required.
