About the role

David Jopson Plasterers is seeking a keen and dedicated 1st Year Apprentice Plasterer to join our team on a full-time basis in Devonport, TAS 7310. This is an excellent opportunity to launch your career in the building trades, working alongside experienced plasterers who will mentor and guide you through your apprenticeship. As a 1st year apprentice, you will be learning the fundamental skills and techniques of plastering whilst contributing to real projects that serve our local community. This role is essential to our business as it allows us to develop the next generation of skilled tradespeople whilst ensuring quality workmanship across all our projects.

What you'll be doing

- Assisting experienced plasterers with the preparation of surfaces, including cleaning, priming and patching

- Learning and practising fundamental plastering techniques under supervision.

- Mixing plaster and other materials to the correct consistency and managing material supplies on site

- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, including tidying up debris and managing waste

- Transporting tools, equipment and materials to and from job sites

- Supporting the team with general site duties and adhering to all health and safety requirements

- Attending formal training and theory components of your apprenticeship programme

- Developing knowledge of different plastering systems, products and best practices in the industry

What we're looking for

- A genuine interest in pursuing a career in the plastering and building trades

- Strong work ethic, reliability and punctuality

- Good physical fitness and stamina, as the role involves manual labour and working at heights

- Ability to follow instructions carefully and work safely on construction sites





- Keen to learn and receptive to feedback and guidance from experienced team members

- Basic numeracy and literacy skills

- Willingness to obtain or working towards relevant health and safety certifications (such as White Card or equivalent)

- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
