David Brown Santasalo (DBS) is a global leader in mechanical power transmission solutions, specialising in the service, repair, overhaul and manufacture of industrial gearboxes and drive systems. We are looking for a motivated Apprentice Mechanical Fitter to join our Mackay Service Centre and undertake a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade while gaining practical, hands-on experience alongside our experienced tradespeople.

This is an excellent chance for someone who enjoys working with their hands, has a genuine interest in mechanical equipment and wants to develop a long-term career in the engineering industry.

What You’ll Learn

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will gain experience in:

- Dismantling, inspecting, repairing and assembling industrial gearboxes and mechanical equipment
- Using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring equipment
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical information
- Identifying mechanical components and understanding how they operate
- Workshop fitting, maintenance and repair techniques
- Working safely and following DBS quality, safety and environmental procedures
- Supporting experienced Fitters on a range of customer equipment and projects

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

- Has a genuine interest in mechanical fitting, engineering or heavy industry




- Is reliable, punctual and willing to learn
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Enjoys practical, hands-on work and problem solving
- Can work effectively as part of a team
- Takes workplace safety seriously
- Has good communication skills
- Holds or is working towards a current driver’s licence
- Has completed Year 10 or above
- Previous mechanical, workshop, school-based trade or work experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
