The ALS Hydrographics Team in Scoresby, Victoria have a rare prospect for an Assistant Hydrographer within the environmental monitoring team.
The successful candidate will receive on-the-job training as well as enrolment and support to complete a Diploma of Water Operations (Hydrography).
This is an excellent opportunity for a self‑motivated person to join a dynamic company that can offer both on‑the‑job training and industry package (hydrography) training to the right candidate, creating a rewarding career path.
The day to day - responsibilities include:
- Hands on role, with a strong focus on teamwork, reliability and initiative
- Routine visitation and maintenance of remote environmental monitoring sites, consisting mainly of stream flow monitoring stations
- Collect and verify environmental data using various software packages and scientific instruments
- Assistance in completing other project and routine works as required
- Accurate Record keeping including field notes, photographs and maps
- Assisting in the upgrade of old, and installation of new environmental monitoring stations
- Use of a wide range of hand tools including manual excavation for extended periods of time
The essentials - the successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
- Tertiary qualification in environmental science, water resources or similar (desirable).
- High level attention to detail, strong organisational, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Professional oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work cohesively in a team environment.
