As an Associate – Commercial Lawyer, you will play a key role in the business, providing commercially focused legal advice and support across business and asset acquisitions and disposals, due diligence investigations, general commercial contracts, and non-complex property and construction matters. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will have day-to-day carriage of commercial matters from instruction through to completion, with assistance from external counsel on more complex or specialised matters. You will work closely with stakeholders across Sentinel Property Group, Ebert Investment Group and their related entities, including the Leasing, Property Management, Developments, Projects, Finance and Investor Relations teams, delivering practical, timely advice that supports commercial decision-making and manages risk.

The role offers genuine variety, direct exposure to transactions from beginning to end, and the opportunity to further develop your drafting, negotiation and commercial skills within a supportive in-house legal team. What You’ll Bring A bachelor’s degree in law and a current Queensland Practising Certificate, with a minimum of 3 years’ post-admission experience (PAE).

Experience in commercial law, including business and asset acquisitions and disposals, due diligence investigations and general commercial contracting,



gained in private practice and/or in-house.

Experience in non-complex property and/or construction matters is favoured, but not essential if you are willing to learn quickly on the job under supervision.

A demonstrated ability to run commercial transactions from beginning to end with appropriate supervision, supported by sound drafting and negotiation skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, sound commercial acumen, and a practical, solutions-focused approach.

Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external advisers.

A high level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines, together with sound judgement in identifying issues to escalate or refer to external counsel.

Proficiency in the MS Office suite and comfort with time recording on LEAP or equivalent practice management software. Post-graduate qualifications in commercial law or a related field are desirable. What You’ll Do

Draft, negotiate and finalise documentation for the acquisition and disposal of businesses and assets, including confidentiality agreements, heads of agreement, term sheets, share, business and asset sale agreements and associated ancillary documents.

Assist with legal due diligence on acquisitions and disposals, coordinating internal stakeholders and external advisers, reviewing material contracts,



and preparing due diligence reports and issues lists.

Draft, review and negotiate general commercial contracts, including supply, hire and services agreements, consultancy and contractor agreements, licence agreements, and variations, novations and terminations.

Assist with non-complex property and construction matters, including contracts of sale, option deeds, leases and licences, easements, and standard form construction and consultancy contracts.

Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice to internal stakeholders, escalating complex, novel or high-risk issues to the Head of Legal and instructing, reviewing and managing external counsel where required.

Manage transaction execution, including conditions precedent, completion checklists, settlement and post-completion obligations, and monitor and report on key contractual dates.

Assist in the management of commercial and contractual disputes, including correspondence, letters of demand, breach notices and settlement documentation.

Contribute to legal strategy and risk management, and prepare, maintain and improve contract precedents, templates and checklists.

Consistently record and bill 4.5 hours per working day (or such other budget set from time to time), in accordance with Legal Practice legislative requirements and the Solicitors Rules. Why Sentinel?
