CASE MANAGER

Family Emergency Accommodation Townsville (FEAT) is a small Specialist Homeless Service and registered Community Housing Provider located in Kirwan, which is dedicated to supporting families experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness across Townsville. We provide a range of essential services including information, referral, and advocacy, crisis intervention, temporary supported accommodation, and long-term housing solutions.

The Case Manager will work as part of a team supporting families who are experiencing homelessness. This could be across our Centre-based, Mobile Support, Crisis Accommodation Programs and DFSV Programs. The position is supported by the Program Manager who are responsible for the overall management and delivery of housing and homelessness responses at FEAT. The position is full-time, requiring availability Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:36 pm.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide appropriate intake and assessment for crisis intervention, information, referral and advocacy to families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
- Provide flexible ongoing case managed support to families, including home visits
- Provide emotional, practical and non-therapeutic intervention as part of a case plan
- Participate in regular supervision, line management and team meetings
- Provide information and advice to the Senior Case Manager and Program Manager where appropriate to assist in the decision-making process around housing and resource allocation
- Prepare and maintain appropriate accurate and confidential records of client work and statistical data.
- Participate in community and networking events that support our objectives
- Participate in training, professional development and annual reviews with the Program Manager

What you bring to the role:





- Tertiary qualifications in the social or human services or two years’ experience working in a specialist homeless service, or another human service organisation
- Experience working from a human rights framework that is responsive and flexible to clients with complex needs
- An understanding of the complex nature of the causes and impacts of family homelessness
- The ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with First Nations clients and clients from a range of diverse cultural and other backgrounds
- High level written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Office applications; experience in case management systems and working with a range of data collection databases
- The ability to work as part of a supportive, qualified team that incorporates FEAT’s Mission, Vision and guiding values and principles into our everyday work.
