About the Role





We are seeking passionate Peer Practitioners to join our Mental Health team across the Northern Adelaide Medicare Mental Health Centre (MMHC), Safe Haven and Crisis Stabilisation Centre (CSC) helping support individuals experiencing mental health challenges and distress.

Drawing on your lived experience, you will provide person-centred, recovery-oriented peer support to individuals, as well as their families, carers, and supporters. You’ll play a vital role in fostering hope, connection, and empowerment, particularly for those experiencing distress or crisis.

Across these services, you will:

Build meaningful, respectful relationships using your lived experience

Support individuals in their recovery journey through strengths-based, trauma-informed practice

Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians and other peer workers

Assist with administrative tasks, including client records and data entry

Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all

Experience Requirements

We’re looking for Peer Practitioners who bring both lived experience and practical skills, including:





Lived experience of mental health challenges (and/or AOD), with demonstrated recovery and ability to use this safely to support others

Experience working in a fast-paced or client-facing environment

Previous experience in a peer work, mental health, community services or similar role (desirable)

Experience working within a multidisciplinary team or alongside clinicians (desirable)

Experience with administrative tasks, including data entry and using client management systems

Strong ability to build rapport and communicate with a diverse range of people

Ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm under pressure

Experience supporting people in distress, including de-escalation (desirable)

Qualification and Other Requirements

Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or currently completing or a willingness to complete

Current or willing to obtain a Working with Children's Check (WWCC)

Current or willing to obtain a National Police Check (NPC)

Knowledge and experience in using the Microsoft suite of software and databases.
