Valley Wide Transport & Towing is seeking an experienced Tilt Tray Operator to join our growing team in Newcastle, NSW. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our road transport operations. As a Tilt Tray Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining our specialist tilt tray vehicles, ensuring vehicles and cargo are transported securely and on time. This role is essential to our commitment to providing reliable and professional transport solutions to our clients.
Key responsibilities
- Operate tilt tray vehicles safely and efficiently in accordance with all road transport regulations and company policies
- Safely load, secure and unload vehicles and cargo using appropriate equipment and techniques
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks before, during and after each shift
- Maintain accurate records of jobs completed, fuel usage, and vehicle condition reports
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients and other team members regarding job status and any issues encountered
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and industry best practices at all times
- Respond promptly to emergency towing and transport requests
- Maintain a clean and well‑organised vehicle at all times
What we're looking for
- Current Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) truck driver's licence with a good driving record
- Proven experience with loading and unloading machinery, shipping containers, site sheds, planet equipment etc.
- Solid knowledge of vehicle restraints,
securing and safe handling of different cargo types
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
- Outstanding safety awareness with a commitment to zero incidents
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and professional customer service
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early starts, weekends and on‑call emergency response as require
- Hiab or crane experience highly desirable
- Preferably a National Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence (HVDL) or equivalent qualification
