Design Educators Expression of Interest | Sydney
Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia is growing — and we’re looking for exceptional Design Educators to join us at our flagship Redfern campus in Sydney.
We are currently inviting expressions of interest from passionate, industry-connected educators and design professionals who want to inspire, challenge and shape the next generation of Australian creative talent.
This opportunity is particularly suited to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Digital Design / Graphic Design — Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
- Interior Design - CAD, Revit, Sketchup
- Advanced Pattern-Making and Garment Construction
- StyleCAD Digital Pattern-Making
These are casual higher education teaching opportunities commencing Early September 2026 for our upcoming trimester.

As a Whitehouse educator, you will have the opportunity to bring your own industry perspective into the classroom while working within an established higher education curriculum and contributing to a premium, face-to-face learning experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
Depending on your area of expertise, you may:
- Deliver dynamic studio, workshop and classroom experiences across areas including Fashion Design and Creative Direction & Styling, and Interior Design
- Bring contemporary industry knowledge, techniques and skilled practice directly into the student experience
- Inspire students to experiment, develop ideas and strengthen both their creative and technical capabilities
- Provide meaningful feedback, mentoring and academic guidance throughout the trimester
- Support students as they develop portfolios, projects and industry-ready skills
- Work within Whitehouse curriculum frameworks, learning outcomes and academic standards
- Contribute to assessment, moderation and academic administration where required
- Collaborate with an experienced team of educators, designers and creative professionals
- Help create an exceptional on-campus experience for the next generation of designers
Who We’re Looking For
We are interested in hearing from accomplished educators and industry practitioners who bring energy, expertise and a genuine desire to teach.
Ideally, you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in design or a related discipline
- Higher education or tertiary teaching experience
- Strong professional or industry experience in your area of specialisation
- Demonstrated technical expertise in one or more of the disciplines listed above
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to engage,
motivate and mentor emerging designers
- A collaborative and professional approach
- Strong organisational skills and attention to academic standards
- A genuine passion for developing creative talent
Current industry practice and significant professional experience will be highly regarded.
Candidates with exceptional industry experience who may not have followed a traditional academic pathway are also encouraged to express their interest.
What You’ll Need
Successful candidates will be required to provide:
- A current Working with Children Check (WWCC), or the ability to obtain one
- A National Police Check
- Original identification and qualification documentation for verification
- Photo identification and evidence of relevant qualifications and qualified experience
