Cook with Purpose. Create Healthy Habits for Life.
Do you love cooking from scratch using fresh, seasonal ingredients? Are you looking for a role where your food genuinely makes a difference every day?
Little Leo's Early Education is looking for a passionate Centre Chef to join our beautiful new Denistone East service, preparing nutritious meals that nourish children and help foster healthy eating habits for life.
Why This Opportunity is Different
At Little Leo's, food is more than just a meal - it's an important part of every child's learning, wellbeing and development.
You'll work in a brand-new kitchen within our purpose-built 64-place centre, preparing fresh meals using quality ingredients and seasonal produce. With manageable numbers, you'll have the time to focus on quality, presentation and creating positive mealtime experiences rather than simply cooking in bulk.
You'll also be a valued member of our leadership team, working alongside educators to encourage healthy eating, celebrate cultural diversity through food and create meaningful experiences that children look forward to every day.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for:
- Preparing fresh breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late snack each day
- Preparing infant meals and purees
- Planning nutritious seasonal menus that align with our nutrition policy
- Catering for allergies, cultural, religious and special dietary requirements
- Managing food ordering, stock control and kitchen budgets
- Maintaining a safe,
clean and compliant kitchen in accordance with Food Safety requirements
- Building positive relationships with children, families and educators through your love of food
About You
You’ll bring:
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an ACECQA-approved qualification with experience in a cooking role
- Experience preparing fresh, nutritious meals in a commercial kitchen
- Knowledge of allergy-protected food preparation and specialised dietary requirements
- Experience with menu planning, stock control and budgeting
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Working With Children Check and First Aid Certificate
- Excellent organisation, communication and time management skills
- A genuine passion for children's nutrition and creating positive food experiences
What You'll Love About This Role
- Above-award salary with regular performance reviews
- Monday to Friday roster - enjoy your evenings and weekends
- Work in a beautiful brand-current kitchen
- Prepare fresh meals using quality, seasonal ingredients
- Opportunity to contribute to menu planning and inspire healthy eating habits
- Manageable numbers within a premium 64-place service
- Supportive leadership and dedicated Head Office team
- Uniform provided
- Wellbeing initiatives, team celebrations and a positive workplace culture
If you're passionate about fresh food, children's wellbeing and creating positive mealtime experiences, we'd love to welcome you to Little Leo's. Come and help us inspire healthy habits that last a lifetime.
