Land has a growing pipeline of residential development projects across Western Australia, including townhouse and apartment developments involving complex building structures, integrated parking facilities and specialised systems such as car stackers.
About the position The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for planning, organising, directing and coordinating assigned construction projects and the resources involved in their delivery, including complex building, renovation and maintenance projects. The successful applicant will work closely with company management, architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, suppliers and relevant authorities to ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities The successful applicant’s responsibilities will include:
Planning and managing building, renovation, refurbishment, maintenance and building-systems upgrade projects from commencement through to completion;
Reviewing and interpreting architectural drawings, engineering plans, specifications, scopes of work and other project documentation;
Preparing and maintaining project programs, construction schedules, budgets, procurement plans and delivery milestones;
Coordinating site labour, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, materials, plant and equipment; Knowledge in car stacker system will be an advantage.
Supervising the delivery of construction works, renovations, repairs and upgrades to electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire, security and other building systems;
Monitoring project costs, variations, progress claims, cash flow, timelines and contractual requirements;
Liaising with architects, engineers, building consultants, tradespeople, property owners and other project stakeholders;
Preparing and assessing tenders, quotations, subcontractor proposals and supplier submissions;
Monitoring site progress, workmanship, contractor performance and compliance with approved plans and quality standards;
Identifying and managing construction risks, defects, delays, access issues and other site-based project challenges;
Ensuring projects comply with building legislation, planning and approval requirements, workplace health and safety obligations and relevant Australian Standards; and
Coordinating inspections, certifications, commissioning, handover documentation and regular progress reporting to management.
Qualifications and experience The ideal applicant will have:
A relevant qualification in Project Management, Construction Management, Building or a related discipline;
At least one year of post-qualification experience in construction project management;
Demonstrated experience managing residential, commercial, mixed-use and civil construction projects, including projects involving complex parking structures;
Experience managing project budgets, schedules, consultants and subcontractors across a variety of projects;
A sound understanding of construction practices, building requirements, workplace health and safety, and quality-assurance processes;
Experience with mechanical or automated car-stacking systems will be highly regarded;
Strong administration, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills; and
Robust written and verbal communication skills.
