About the Role
The Senior Logistics Supervisor is responsible for planning, directing and managing logistics activities across procurement, storage, security, freight, inventory control and asset management for Commonwealth, customer and Cubic property. This role plays a key part in ensuring Cubic meets CTC-LIS contractual requirements while maintaining efficient, compliant and effective logistics operations across depot, Defence garrison and field exercise environments.
Working under minimal supervision, you will lead logistics and inventory management functions, exercise sound judgement within delegated authority, and provide in office leadership to support operational readiness and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and develop the logistics team to deliver sustainable service excellence and high performance.
- Manage integrated logistics support across the program to maximise efficiency, effectiveness and contractual compliance.
- Oversee spares planning, scheduling, expediting, purchasing, repair, maintenance and dispatch activities.
- Ensure Cubic's Logistics Management Information System is used accurately and consistently to identify, track and control Commonwealth,
customer and Cubic assets.
- Develop, implement and maintain logistics processes, work instructions and standard operating procedures in line with Cubic's quality system.
- Oversee receiving, inspecting, storing, maintaining and verifying customer assets using best-practice procedures.
- Coordinate annual inventory verification, discrepancy reconciliation, reporting and monthly random spot-checks of customer or Cubic property.
- Manage asset disposal, warranty lifecycle activities and timely renewal of related services and licences.
- Support purchasing activities including purchase requisitions, orders, tracking, delivery and reporting in line with Cubic policies.
- Provide logistics reporting to senior program management and coordinate approved external support providers, including suppliers and Cubic New Zealand.
- Engage positively with customers to ensure clear communication, issue resolution and effective logistics support.
- Support WHSE incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions, escalating hazards and issues where required.
About You
You are an experienced logistics leader with strong judgement, a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to build capability in a team. You are comfortable working in depot and field environments, managing competing priorities,
maintaining accurate asset records and engaging confidently with internal teams, customers and suppliers.
Background and Experience
- Ability to attain and maintain a minimum Defence Security Clearance of Baseline.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams, managing priorities and delivering high-performance outcomes.
- Strong logistics management and maintenance management knowledge or experience.
- Experience preparing reports, returns and correspondence.
- In-depth knowledge of logistics and maintenance policies, procedures and best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate inventory and asset management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and Visio, as well as Adobe Acrobat.
Desirable Experience
- Five or more years' experience in military logistics, including transport, supply or maintenance, at junior to senior leadership levels.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as logistics, business or a related discipline.
- Previous experience supporting project deliverables, schedules or deployment activities.
Working Environment
This role is based across Cubic depot, Defence garrison and exercise area locations. The successful candidate must be comfortable supporting operational requirements in both fixed-site and field deployment environments.
Conditions of Employment
- Successful completion of a National Police Check.
- Ability to attain and maintain the required Defence Security Clearance.
- Compliance with Cubic's Quality Management System, Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies, Human Resources procedures and applicable security requirements.
