To strengthen our team, and in pursuit of new business opportunities, we are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager for our Renewable Energy Business Unit in Sydney.
About the Role The Contract Manager finalises, executes, and commercialises supply chain and subcontracts following the project's head contract award. This role bridges the gap between procurement and construction. It ensures all packages are legally airtight, financially optimized, and commercially aligned before site works begin. Translate winning subcontractor bids and tender packages into formal legal contracts.
Resolve post-award qualifications, commercial deviations, and special conditions with suppliers.
Ensure head contract risks, warranties, and liquidated damages flow down to subcontracts.
Drive the contract sign-off process to ensure zero unexecuted contracts exist before site mobilization.
Collect, verify, and lodge subcontractor bank guarantees, performance bonds, and parent company guarantees.
Ensure valid Public Liability, Workers' Compensation, and Professional Indemnity insurances are active.
Scope, negotiate, and formalise changes arising between tender award and construction kick-off.
Finalise provisional sums and options to lock in target budget margins.
Lead commercial handover meetings from the Estimating/Bid team to the Project Delivery team.
Verify compliance with safety management plans, quality standards, and up-to-date slavery regulations.
Act as the primary commercial point of contact for tier-1 suppliers during onboarding.
About
You 5+ years as a Contract Manager, Subcontract Administrator, or Commercial Manager in construction/infrastructure.
Experience working within Tier 1 or Tier 2 head contracting environments.
Ability to resolve complex commercial stalemates without eroding supplier relationships.
Sharp eye for identifying risk, ambiguities, and unfavourable clauses in supply agreements.
Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Law, Business, or Civil Engineering.
Excellent communication skills
