Are you an experienced Cost Control Specialist looking to play a key role in the delivery of a major infrastructure project?
Fremantle Ports is seeking a skilled and analytical Cost Control Specialist to join our Major Projects team. Working on a significant major project, you will provide expert cost management, forecasting, reporting and financial analysis support to ensure project outcomes are delivered within approved budgets and governance frameworks.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a landmark project while working alongside experienced project managers, engineers, commercial specialists and project controls professionals.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Project Director, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling project costs across the full project lifecycle. You will provide accurate and timely reporting, support financial forecasting, analyse project performance, and identify risks and opportunities to support informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring project budgets, commitments, accruals and expenditure
- Preparing cost forecasts, cash flow forecasts and Estimate at Completion (EAC) reports
- Analysing cost performance, trends and variances
- Supporting project governance, reporting and assurance requirements
- Assessing the cost impact of scope changes, variations and claims
- Developing and maintaining project reporting tools, dashboards and cost control systems
- Partnering with project teams to optimise project performance and financial outcomes
About You To be successful, you will bring:
- Experience in cost control, project controls, project finance or cost engineering within major projects
- Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting and financial analysis
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities and strong analytical skills
- Experience working in infrastructure, construction, resources, utilities, energy,
maritime or other capital-intensive project environments
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Commerce, Finance, Project Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Experience with project controls systems such as EcoSys, SAP, Primavera P6, Power BI or similar platforms will be highly regarded
