We are seeking a highly capable Cyber Security Engineering Specialist to join our Cyber Enablement team. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing, implementing and continuously improving security capabilities across a large and complex technology setting. You will leverage automation, data-driven decision making and emerging AI technologies to improve operational efficiency, accelerate delivery and enhance cyber security outcomes.
Working closely with engineering, cloud, infrastructure, architecture, network and delivery teams, you will help embed security into platforms, services and projects from design through to operation. You'll leverage automation, scripting, AI-assisted engineering and modern engineering practices to reduce risk, improve efficiency and enable secure outcomes at scale.
You will be responsible for the ownership, lifecycle management, integration and continuous improvement of key cyber security platforms and services. Partnering with technology teams, architects and vendors, you will deliver resilient, scalable and automated security solutions that support the organisation's evolving business and security objectives.
You'll make an impact by:
- Leverage AI-assisted development, automation and analytical capabilities to improve engineering productivity, accelerate delivery and enhance cyber security operations.
- Design, implement and continuously improve cyber security capabilities that protect TPG Telecom's systems, data and customers.
- Own the technical lifecycle of assigned security platforms and services, including roadmap planning, integration, operational support, upgrades and continuous improvement.
- Develop automation, integrations and tooling using scripting, APIs and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles to improve security outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Partner with engineering, cloud, infrastructure, network, architecture and delivery teams to embed security controls into platforms, services and projects from design through to operation.
- Lead the onboarding and integration of technologies, applications and platforms into cyber security services, ensuring alignment with security standards and operational requirements.
- Drive the adoption of engineering best practices, automation and self-service capabilities to reduce manual effort and improve scalability.
- Build and maintain integrations across security, cloud and operational toolsets to increase visibility, monitoring and response capabilities.
- Support the investigation, remediation and continuous improvement of security incidents, vulnerabilities and control deficiencies.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of cyber security standards, patterns, architectural guidance and operational procedures.
- Engage with vendors and technology partners to support platform strategy, service delivery and capability enhancement.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to stakeholders and team members, promoting security-by-design and secure engineering principles.
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ensure assigned platforms and services remain secure, resilient, supported and fit for purpose through effective operational governance and lifecycle management.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience designing, implementing and supporting enterprise technology or cyber security solutions.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex systems and identify practical solutions.
- Experience with automation, scripting or software development using languages such as Python, PowerShell or similar.
- Knowledge of cloud, infrastructure, networking and security concepts, with experience across one or more technology domains.
- Experience integrating platforms and services using APIs, automation frameworks and modern engineering practices.
- Understanding of security domains such as Identity & Access Management (IAM), Privileged Access Management (PAM), Endpoint Security,
SIEM, Vulnerability Management, Data Protection and Cloud Security.
- Exposure to security platforms such as CyberArk, SailPoint, Splunk, SentinelOne, Vectra, Microsoft Security and AWS security services is desirable but not essential.
Ideally, you will also have:
- Experience working within large, complex or regulated enterprise environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills.
- Ability to balance security, operational and business requirements to deliver pragmatic outcomes.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, professional development and keeping pace with emerging technologies and threats.
- Experience using generative AI, AI-assisted development tools or intelligent automation platforms to improve engineering, operational or security outcomes is desirable.
