What if your commercial decisions could directly strengthen the reliability and resilience of Australia's Data Centre operations?
Summary The Contract & Cost Manager is responsible for the commercial administration, cost control and performance oversight of a substantial portfolio of operational contracts across STACK's Australian data centres. The assigned portfolio may represent material annual expenditure across engineering maintenance, facilities management, security, cleaning, utilities support and other critical operational services. This role directly supports STACK’s commitment to 100% uptime and a concierge-level customer service experience, ensuring risk is proactively managed, planned works are executed safely, and customer communications are clear, timely and skilled. Reporting to the Senior Contract & Cost Manager, the role independently owns and administers a significant allocated portfolio and provides portfolio-level commercial governance throughout the procurement and contract lifecycle. This includes sourcing strategy, tendering, negotiation, contract execution, forecasting, payment assessment, variations, claims, vendor performance, renewals, transition and contract close-out. The role is accountable for maintaining accurate visibility of contractual commitments, expenditure, financial risks and supplier performance; ensuring contracts remain within approved authority, value and term; and providing commercially sound recommendations to Operations and senior leadership.

- Protect STACK’s commercial position through disciplined notices, records, insurance, liability, security and delegated-authority controls.
- Lead budget development, reforecasting, accruals, commitments, payment assessment, variance analysis and whole-of-life cost modelling.
- Maintain clear visibility of expenditure, risk allowances, savings, cost avoidance, contractual exposure and supplier financial risk.
- Monitor vendor performance against KPIs, SLAs and maintenance obligations, leading reviews, corrective actions and escalation where required.
- Support audits and assurance reviews, strengthen standard processes and coach Operations stakeholders in contract administration and commercial decision-making.
- Present portfolio performance, risk, forecasts and recommendations to senior and executive stakeholders, while supporting new capacity, transitions and capital improvements. What You'll Bring
- At least seven years’ experience in commercial management, contract management, quantity surveying, procurement or cost management within operations, facilities, engineering or critical infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ownership or commercial administration of a significant annual contract portfolio with material operational and organisational impact.
- Strong experience negotiating and administering complex, high-value facilities, maintenance, engineering or service contracts through the full lifecycle.
- Capability across sourcing strategy, tendering, drafting, payment assessment, variations, forecasting, claims, dispute resolution, renewals and vendor performance.
- Strong commercial judgement, financial analysis, executive communication, negotiation and governance capability.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in quantity surveying, construction management, commercial management, engineering, finance, law or a related discipline.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability and experience with ERP and financial platforms such as Oracle NetSuite.
- Data Centre experience is preferred but not essential; commercial backgrounds in Mission Critical sectors such as pharmaceutical manufacturing, oil and gas, power generation or aviation may also align.
