About the Role
Business NSW is seeking a Data Support & Test Engineer to join our Information Communication & Technology team.
Reporting to the Data & Integration Manager, this role is responsible for providing ICT support and testing services across Business NSW's data and integration environment, ensuring system stability, reliability and operational performance.
The role focuses on monitoring, troubleshooting, testing and supporting existing platforms across cloud-based and on-premise environments. Working closely with internal stakeholders, technology vendors and the broader ICT team, the successful candidate will support system reliability, data integrity and continuous service improvement.
This role plays an important part in maintaining the quality, performance and availability of Business NSW's data and integration services, helping to support critical business operations across the organisation.
Main Responsibilities Include
- Monitor, maintain and support ICT systems including Azure-based services and SQL environments to ensure system availability and performance.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve incidents, defects, system issues and data-related problems in accordance with service management processes.
- Support system deployments by performing testing, validation and operational readiness activities.
- Execute test cases, test scripts and validation procedures across data and integration systems.
- Participate in System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities and contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes.
- Perform data validation,
reconciliation and quality assurance activities to support data accuracy and integrity.
- Monitor system logs, alerts and performance metrics and escalate issues where appropriate.
- Maintain technical documentation, testing artefacts, incident records and troubleshooting guides.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support service delivery and issue resolution.
- Assist with data migration activities through testing and validation activities.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will
- Hold a tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Demonstrate experience in ICT support, application support, systems testing or technology operations environments.
- Have strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Have experience executing structured testing activities including test cases, defect logging and validation procedures.
- Possess an understanding of data validation, reconciliation and system integration concepts.
- Be able to investigate and resolve technical issues across enterprise applications and business systems.
- Demonstrate strong communication, stakeholder engagement and documentation skills.
- Have exposure to Microsoft Azure, SQL environments or cloud-based platforms in a support or testing capacity (desirable).
- Have an understanding of service management principles and operational support environments.
- Be committed to continuous improvement, quality assurance and operational excellence.
