Role: Designer - Fixed-term contract

Location: Abbotsford, Victoria

Type: 7 month contract with potential to move to full-time employment.

About the role

This is a design role within Frank Wild's Design Studio, working across event-based projects including custom build, conferences, brand activations and launches. The Studio is led by the Creative Director, with the Designers working closely alongside the project team.

The events work is high paced for most of the year, so the role requires strong attention to detail, clear communication and the ability to manage high-pressure workloads and tight timeframes. You'll bring initiative, motivation and a genuine appetite for doing things a little differently.

About the design studio

Our Design Studio focuses on four connected areas. Not every project draws on all four, and the way they come together varies from job to job. We're looking for a Designer who can have real input across this framework and grow with it.

Strategy - Creative direction, event concepts, proposals.

Experience - Guest, client, user and spatial experience.

Application - Graphic design, signage, merchandise, 3D printing, material selection and sourcing.

Architectural - Floor and site plans, drawing details, renders, virtual reality.

The essential ‘must haves’ include:

- Experience with Adobe Suite
- Experience with Figma
- Experience with CAD programs and SketchUp
- Experience with rendering programs
- An understanding of temporary build construction
- Ability to draft detailed build drawings for custom build elements (including finishes schedule, build plans and elevations and site / floor plans and layouts

Ability to create and develop:

- Print layouts for signage elements
- Preliminary sketches of concepts




- Renders for client presentations

The ‘nice to haves’ include:

- Architecture qualification or equivalent technical training
- Experience in sustainability practices
- Creative concept development experience, end-to-end
- Client presentation development
- Technical production knowledge
- Exposure to current materials, methods and supply chains
- Experience with merchandise production or 3D printing
- Exposure to virtual reality or spatial design tools

Reports:

Day to day reporting to the Creative Director, however you will be required to regularly work together with the project managers on each project/event.

Remuneration:

Salary to be discussed and calculated based on individual experience.
