About the role As a Digital Environment Optimisation Specialist, you will play a key role in the management, optimisation and adoption of Sydney Water's Microsoft 365 platform. This role is responsible for ensuring that Microsoft 365 services, including SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive and the Power Platform, are secure, well governed, aligned to business needs and continuously improved. You will act as a trusted advisor across the organisation, working with business and technology teams to maximise value from Microsoft technologies while ensuring solutions remain supportable, compliant and aligned with Microsoft's evergreen roadmap.

This role is critical in driving platform innovation, adoption, governance and operational excellence across our digital workplace environment.

Key Responsibilities include: Microsoft 365 Platform Management Administer and optimise Microsoft 365 services including SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive and related collaboration technologies.

Ensure platform availability, security, governance and compliance.

Design and implement solutions that account for the evergreen nature of the Microsoft 365 platform.

Assess new Microsoft capabilities and determine their suitability for Sydney Water. SharePoint and Content Services Manage SharePoint sites, information architecture, permissions and content lifecycle processes.

Maintain enterprise metadata, taxonomy and content management standards.

Support collaboration and document management capabilities.

Promote best practice information management across the platform.

Power Platform

Enablement and Governance Provide technical leadership and support for Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages and Copilot capabilities.

Partner with business stakeholders to deliver low-code solutions that improve business outcomes.

Implement governance controls, standards and guardrails for citizen development.

Support the delivery and optimisation of the Power Platform Centre of Excellence. Evergreen and Continuous Improvement Monitor Microsoft's roadmap and assess impacts to Sydney Water's digital workplace environment.

Lead planning and adoption activities for new features, service changes and platform enhancements.

Ensure solutions remain current, supported and aligned to strategic technology direction.

Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and optimise digital services. Security and Compliance Implement and monitor security, privacy and compliance controls across Microsoft 365 services.

Work closely with Cyber Security and Information Management teams to meet regulatory and organisational requirements.

Support audits,



risk assessments and compliance reporting activities.

Business

Partnership and Advisory Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams.

Translate business requirements into practical, scalable Microsoft 365 solutions.

Provide expert advice on modern workplace capabilities and digital collaboration practices.

Advocate for platform adoption and value realisation.

Change

Management and Adoption Lead user adoption and change initiatives related to Microsoft 365 services.

Develop communication, training and awareness activities.

Support stakeholders through platform changes and new capability rollouts.

Measure and promote adoption outcomes. Innovation and Best Practice Stay current with Microsoft 365, Power Platform and digital workplace trends.

Contribute to Sydney Water's digital roadmap and continuous improvement initiatives.

Identify opportunities to improve user experience, productivity and service delivery.

Promote industry best practices and standards across the organisation. Collaboration and Community Building Foster communities of practice for Microsoft 365 and Power Platform users.

Facilitate workshops, forums and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Promote collaboration across business and technology teams.

Support capability uplift and continuous learning across the organisation. About the candidate Degree qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Relevant Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform, Security & Compliance, or related technologies.

Demonstrated experience managing and optimising Microsoft 365 platforms, including SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive and associated collaboration services.

Proven track record in planning, delivering and sustaining Microsoft 365 adoption and change initiatives, including user engagement, communication, training and capability uplift.

Experience implementing governance, security and compliance controls across Microsoft 365 and Power Platform environments.

Strong understanding of SharePoint Online information architecture, content management, permissions, records management, metadata and taxonomy principles.

Experience supporting and governing Power Platform solutions, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages and Copilot capabilities.

Demonstrated ability to assess emerging Microsoft technologies and manage the evergreen nature of the Microsoft 365 platform,



ensuring services remain current, secure and aligned to organisational objectives.

Experience working with business stakeholders to identify opportunities, gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable technology solutions.

Strong knowledge of modern workplace, collaboration and productivity technologies, including their perks, risks and practical application across diverse business functions.

Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, facilitation and training skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and continuous improvement skills with a focus on user experience, adoption and business value realisation.

Ability to build trusted relationships across business and technology teams and influence outcomes without direct authority.

Desirable

Experience establishing or supporting a Power Platform Centre of Excellence (CoE).

Experience with Microsoft Purview, Information Protection, Records Management and Compliance solutions.

Knowledge of Microsoft Copilot, AI governance and responsible AI practices.

Experience within a large, complex or regulated enterprise environment.

Understanding of enterprise architecture, digital workplace strategy and service management practices.
