Role Purpose

As a Disability Support Worker at Better n Beyond, you will provide tailored, in office support to individuals with disabilities, including those with high-care needs, promoting their well-being and independence. You will assist with personal care, daily living activities, and community engagement, ensuring clients achieve their NDIS plan goals. Through collaboration with families, management, and other stakeholders, you will help create an empowering environment for clients to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Client Support

- Provide specialised assistance for clients with high physical and complex-care needs, including manual handling, mobility support, complex health management, mealtime management support and/or equipment use.

- Assist with personal care tasks, including toileting, hygiene, grooming, and other high-care needs, ensuring dignity and privacy are maintained.

- Support daily living activities, such as meal preparation, budgeting, shopping, household chores, and transportation.

- Deliver individualized, culturally appropriate care to clients, respecting their unique needs and goals as outlined in their NDIS plans.

- Foster a safe and positive environment, implementing Positive Behavior Support (PBS) plans to enhance clients’ physical and emotional well-being.

- Encourage and enable participation in community activities, social events, and recreational pursuits to promote social inclusion and independence.

Collaboration and Communication

- Liaise effectively with clients, families, and other support staff to ensure coordinated and person-centered care.

- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, therapists, and stakeholders to address clients' holistic needs and facilitate their progress.

- Maintain open communication with management, embracing feedback and participating in regular reviews to optimize support services.

Administration and Compliance

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, progress, and incidents in compliance with Better n Beyond’s policies and procedures.





- Ensure adherence to the NDIS Code of Conduct, organizational guidelines, and all relevant legislative requirements.

Professional Development

- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and understanding of best practices in disability support, including high-care needs and NDIS standards.

- Embrace feedback for upskilling and applying new knowledge to daily responsibilities from management and care team.

Qualifications/skills/experiences

- Skilled in manual handling, including hoist transfers, repositioning and the use of other assistive technologies (priority)

- Available to start immediately. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

• Experience in driving wheelchair van– Highly Preferred (Priority)

- Driver’s Licence (Unrestricted) – Mandatory

• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance – Mandatory

• Experience/Qualifications in:

- Disability Support / Individual Support / Personal Care / Mental Health / Social Work

- Current students welcome

• NDIS High-Intensity Support including but not limited to:

- Dysphagia / mealtime management

- Catheter care

- Stoma Care

- PEG Feeding

- Diabetes Management

- Manual handling & transfers

- Bowel care and enema admisnistration

- Wound care

• 24/7 roster flexibility (mandatory):

- Sleepovers

- Active nights

- Short & long shifts

- Weekend shifts

- High availability across days/times

• Strong communication skills (written & verbal)

- Reliable, responsible, person-centred approach

- Respect choice, promote independence

• Ability to work independently & in a team

- Knowledge of NDIS safeguarding & best practice

Desirable

- Experience supporting clients with High Physical needs, ADHD and mental health
