MindChamps Early Learning & Preschool is seeking an Accountant to join our finance team on a fixed-term contract basis. This is a outstanding opportunity for an accounting professional looking to further develop their skills in financial accounting, reporting and compliance within a supportive finance environment.
Based in Parramatta, NSW, you will support the day-to-day accounting operations of our organisation, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for an Accountant who is looking to grow their experience within the education sector while contributing to a leading early learning provider.
Key responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate financial records, including general ledger entries and account reconciliations
- Assisting with the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journals and reconciliations
- Supporting month-end and year-end financial close processes
- Preparing financial reports, schedules and supporting documentation for management review
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
- Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and audit requirements
- Supporting compliance with GST, tax obligations and other financial reporting requirements
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and variance reporting activities
- Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring accounting processes are followed
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and supporting finance system improvements
What we're looking for
- A qualification in accounting, such as a Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting degree or equivalent qualification
- 2-4 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role
- Sound understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and accounting principles
- Experience with accounting systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience assisting with month-end and financial reporting processes
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Understanding of GST, tax compliance and payroll accounting processes
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders
- Experience in the education, early learning or not-for-profit sector would be advantageous
- A willingness to learn, develop and contribute positively within a finance team
