About the opportunity As Duty Manager, you will lead safe, efficient and compliant transport operations within the Wollongong StarTrack Facility. Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will play a critical leadership role in ensuring service delivery standards are achieved while driving network efficiency, cost performance and continuous improvement across our transport network.
Working closely with Supervisors, Team Leaders, operational teams and key network stakeholders, you will identify opportunities to improve productivity, optimise fleet utilisation and support the successful movement of freight across the network.
You’ll also Lead day-to-day transport operations to achieve service delivery, safety and compliance outcomes across the facility.
Drive network efficiency through improved vehicle and trailer utilisation, transport optimisation and cost management initiatives.
Monitor and report on operational performance measures including DIFOT, scanning compliance, POD capture, labour utilisation, overtime and external hire costs.
Analyse operational and financial data to identify trends, improve performance and support informed decision-making.
Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders,
delivery partners and customers to support service excellence and continuous improvement.
Lead and develop frontline leaders and operational teams, creating an accountable, customer-focused and safety-first culture.
Support the implementation of operational improvements, transport strategies and Lean-based process enhancements across the network.
About you You are an experienced operational leader who excels in fast-paced transport, logistics, supply chain or fleet environments. You balance operational execution with commercial thinking, are comfortable leading through change and have a strong track record of improving performance while maintaining exceptional safety standards.
You bring a collaborative leadership style, strong analytical capability and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels to achieve business outcomes.
You’ll also Demonstrated experience leading transport, logistics, fleet, freight, parcel or operational facilities environments.
Strong understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR), safety, compliance and operational risk management.
Experience leading teams within complex operational environments and driving accountability for results.
Ability to analyse operational and financial performance data and translate insights into action.
Experience working with service level agreements,
operational reporting and performance management frameworks.
Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build productive relationships across internal and external networks.
Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives, ideally with exposure to Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
