We are seeking an experienced and safety focused Electrician to join the Maintenance team at Blair Athol Coal Mine. Working a 7 days on, 7 days off roster rotating between day and night shift, this role is suited to a capable trade professional with strong mine site electrical experience and demonstrated experience maintaining and fault finding on draglines.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, your fundamental focus will be the electrical maintenance, reliability, availability and safe operation of the Blair Athol dragline and its associated electrical systems. While the dragline will be your primary area of responsibility, the role is not limited to dragline work. You will also support electrical maintenance across mobile mining equipment, fixed plant and other site infrastructure as operational priorities require, within the scope of your qualifications, competencies and licences.

This is an opportunity to work within an experienced maintenance team where your technical capability has a direct impact on equipment performance and production. You will be closely involved in fault diagnosis, planned maintenance, shutdown activity and continuous improvement across critical mining assets.

The Opportunity

As an Electrician at Blair Athol, you will provide practical electrical maintenance support across the operation, helping ensure equipment is safe, compliant, reliable and available to deliver the mine plan. You will respond to breakdowns, complete preventative maintenance and inspections, identify recurring defects and contribute to improvements that increase plant and equipment reliability.





The dragline will be the fundamental focus of the role. You will apply your experience with large mining electrical systems to diagnose faults, complete repairs and planned work, support shutdowns and work collaboratively with operators and maintenance personnel to return the dragline to service safely and efficiently. You will also be expected to work flexibly across other areas of the operation and undertake electrical work on other site equipment where required, provided the work is within your capability, competencies and licences.

Responsibilities of the Role

- Perform planned, preventative and breakdown electrical maintenance, with the dragline as the primary focus, while also supporting mobile mining equipment, fixed plant and associated site infrastructure as required and within your qualifications, competencies and licences.

- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults on dragline systems, including motors, drives, control circuits, switchgear, protection systems, power distribution and associated electrical equipment.

- Support dragline shutdowns, inspections and major maintenance activities, ensuring electrical work is planned, executed and returned to service safely and effectively.

- Complete statutory inspections, testing and maintenance activities in accordance with site procedures, electrical standards and legislative requirements.

- Respond to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions, applying structured fault finding and practical problem solving to minimise downtime.

- Undertake electrical isolations, verification, testing and safe restoration of equipment in accordance with site isolation and permit systems.

- Inspect electrical equipment and identify defects, deterioration and emerging reliability risks before they result in unplanned failure.

- Complete maintenance records, work orders, defect notifications and other documentation accurately and within required timeframes.

- Work closely with Maintenance Supervisors, planners, operators and other trades to coordinate work and support equipment availability and production priorities.

- Contribute to equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring faults, improvement opportunities and practical solutions.

- Maintain high standards of electrical housekeeping, tool control and work area condition, with a strong focus on safe work execution and quality workmanship.

- Act in accordance with the site Safety and Health Management System, statutory electrical obligations,



operational procedures and TerraCom standards at all times.

About You

You are an experienced mine site electrician who takes pride in reliable, high quality work and understands the importance of electrical integrity in a production environment. You are confident fault finding on complex mining equipment, work well under pressure and bring the practical knowledge needed to support safe and reliable dragline performance. You are also flexible and willing to support other electrical maintenance activities across the operation where required, within the scope of your capability, competencies and licences.

You will bring

- A recognised electrical trade qualification and current Queensland electrical licence.

- Demonstrated electrical maintenance experience in an open cut mining environment.

- Demonstrated hands on experience maintaining, inspecting and fault finding on draglines is essential.

- Strong practical knowledge of high voltage and low voltage mining electrical systems, motors, drives, control systems, protection equipment and power distribution relevant to large mining equipment.

- Experience with planned maintenance, breakdown response, shutdown work and electrical fault diagnosis in a production focused environment.

- A strong understanding of electrical safety, isolation requirements, risk management and safe work practices within a mine site environment.

- Strong fault finding and problem solving capability, with the ability to diagnose issues systematically and make sound decisions under operational pressure.

- The ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with operators, supervisors, planners and other maintenance trades.

- Relevant mine site competencies and licences for the position, together with a current driver’s licence.

- A proactive and accountable approach, strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to safety, equipment reliability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
