DEQ is recruiting an Energy Resource Professional to join the Bureau's Energy Planning Section.

The priorities for this position include: Collect, synthesize, and present data on energy prices, consumption, production, and market trends.

Evaluate the financial and economic impact of proposed energy policies, environmental regulations, and energy efficiency and incentive programs.

Analyze utility integrated resource planning activities related to the costs and benefits of resource additions, power infrastructure upgrades, new technology adoption, and regional energy markets and adequacy programs.

Translate complex quantitative data into actionable reports and appealing visual presentations for non-specialist stakeholders and policymakers.

Collaborate with internal staff to support Bureau's responsibilities for energy security and planning, clean transportation and federal grant programs. Ideal candidates would have experience interpreting statistical and engineering data, analyzing financial reports, and/or conducting power systems planning and implementation. Strong communication oral and written communication skills, experience with data analysis and visualization, and a record of effective teamwork are essential to this position.





Experience with or exposure to utility operations and energy markets is also desirable. Bachelor's degree in environmental, biological earth sciences or engineering, Business Administration, or other relevant field or equivalent related experience in energy system analysis and design, grant management, and project development.

Preferred experience with electric transmission and distribution systems planning; grant management and program implementation; emergency management and response; stakeholder engagement and customer service; and project tracking and analysis.

Current valid Driver's License and clean driving record in accordance with State of Montana Vehicle Use Policy.
