Description:

About the Role

Horsham Rural City Council is seeking a motivated and community-focused Environmental Health Officer to join our Environmental Health Team and help protect and improve public health outcomes across the municipality. This is a rewarding professional role that combines regulatory compliance, education, investigation and community engagement.





You will be responsible for undertaking environmental health inspections, investigating complaints, administering legislative requirements and providing advice to businesses and the community on a broad range of public health matters. The role contributes to ensuring a safe, healthy and sustainable environment for residents, visitors and businesses throughout the municipality.

This opportunity offers:

- Band 6 salary commencing at approximately $96,000 per annum, plus superannuation

Skills and Experiences:

About You

You are a qualified Environmental Health Officer with strong communication,



investigation and problem-solving skills. You enjoy working with businesses, community members and stakeholders to achieve positive public health outcomes and are confident applying legislation in a practical and customer-focused manner.

You have well-developed organisational skills and can manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail. You are comfortable working independently and collaboratively and are committed to delivering high-quality regulatory services.

We recognise strong candidates come from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels. Applications are encouraged from both experienced Environmental Health Officers and graduates or early-career professionals seeking to further develop their skills in local government. For applicants who do not yet meet all Band 6 requirements, Council may consider appointment at a lower classification, with salary commensurate with qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience, and opportunities provided for professional development and progression.

Ideally to be successful in this role, you will have:

- A qualification in Environmental Health recognised by Environmental Health Australia.

- Experience working as an Environmental Health Officer in local government or a related field.

- Sound knowledge of environmental health legislation and regulatory processes.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Excellent investigatue and customer service skills.

- The ability to interpret and apply legislation in a practical and consistent manner.

- A current Victorian driver's licence.
