Overview

Registered Nurse – Neurosurgery, on-site, full-time position at Royal Melbourne Hospital in Parkville, VIC, Australia. The hospital is a leading public healthcare provider and offers opportunities for career growth.

Responsibilities

- Provide safe, high-quality, person-centred nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in collaboration with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.
- Deliver evidence-based nursing interventions and procedures in accordance with RMH policies, clinical standards and scope of practice.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to support effective care coordination and achieve positive patient outcomes.
- Advocate for patients and contribute to health education, support and promotion activities.
- Support the development of nursing staff, including undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate nurses, through clinical guidance and knowledge sharing.
- Be part of the Neurosurgery Ward 4 South West (4SW) team, a 32-bed surgical unit including a 13-bed High Dependency Unit (HDU), caring for elective and emergency neurosurgery and neurotrauma patients.

About the role

You will deliver safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care to patients with complex cranial and spinal conditions. Work with an experienced multidisciplinary team,



applying critical thinking and clinical judgement to support outcomes and develop advanced surgical nursing skills. This role offers opportunities to work within the HDU in a supportive environment with access to education and career development resources.

Qualifications and Experience

- AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Ideally 2 years’ experience in acute care; neurosurgery nursing experience is valued but not essential.
- A commitment to patient-centred care, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
