Finance Manager
Skara Smallgoods is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead our day-to-day finance function while contributing commercially across the business.
This is a genuinely hands-on role. You’ll stay close to the numbers, ensure the finance function runs accurately and efficiently and provide the financial insight that helps our management and operational teams make better business decisions.
You’ll take ownership of month-end reporting, budgeting and forecasting, financial controls and compliance, while working closely with Sales, Operations and Management on margins, pricing, inventory, cashflow and business performance.
We’re also looking for someone who naturally sees opportunities to make things better, improving systems, simplifying processes and strengthening controls.
About Us
Skara Smallgoods is a South Australian family owned and operated business. We produce award-winning charcuterie, a brand known for its outstanding flavour, quality and shelf presence.

About the Role
As Finance Manager, you will take responsibility for the effective operation of the finance function and the integrity of our financial information.
Your responsibilities will include

- Preparing accurate and timely monthly financial statements and management reports.
- BAS,
Payroll Tax and Workcover preparation
- Leading the annual budgeting and forecasting process in partnership with operational stakeholders.
- Investigating and explaining financial and operational performance against budget and forecast.
- Supporting cashflow, working capital and inventory management and reporting.
- Provide advice on pricing, margins, costs and overall business performance.
- Liaise with external accountant for compliance work and end of year financials.
- Ensuring financial transactions are accurately processed within required reporting timeframes.
- Maintaining strong financial controls, compliance and governance across the business.
- Reviewing expenditure, coding and accruals to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Managing the Fixed Asset Register.
- Identifying opportunities to streamline finance processes, improve controls and increase efficiency.
- Working with stakeholders across the business to improve financial understanding and build greater financial accountability.
About You
You are an experienced finance professional who enjoys being close to both the numbers and the business.
You understand that accurate financial information is essential, but you also know its real value comes from helping people make better decisions.
Ideally, you will bring:
- CA or CPA qualification, or be working towards qualification.
- Proven experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Senior Accountant or similar senior finance professional.
- Costing experience, preferably in a food manufacturing company.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
- Experience managing month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial controls.
- Strong commercial and analytical capability.
- Experience working with inventory and operationally focused businesses will be highly regarded.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with complex datasets and financial models.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The confidence to question, investigate and improve rather than simply accept the way things have always been done.
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
We value people who want to contribute, are willing to roll up their sleeves, work well with others and genuinely care about doing a good job.
Why Join Skara Smallgoods?
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a finance function while being close enough to the operations to see the impact of your work.
You won’t simply produce reports and send them out. You’ll have the opportunity to understand what is happening across the business, work alongside operational leaders and help turn financial information into better commercial decisions.
If you are a capable, hands-on finance professional looking for a role where you can combine solid financial management with commercial involvement and continuous improvement, we would love to hear from you.
