The company delivers comprehensive services across sprinkler and hydrant systems, fire and smoke detection and alarm systems, and emergency warning and intercommunication systems.

AFT Fire Protection also works with occupant warning systems, VESDA, fire pumps, hose reels, extinguishers, fire doors, smoke alarms, gaseous suppression systems, gas detection, and fire seals, offering end-to-end fire protection solutions.

Role Description The Fire Systems Tester is a full-time, in office role based in Sydney, NSW, responsible for testing, inspecting, and verifying the performance and compliance of fire protection systems. Day-to-day tasks include conducting routine and scheduled tests on sprinkler systems, hydrant systems, fire detection and alarm systems, emergency warning and intercommunication systems, occupant warning systems, and related equipment. The role involves documenting test results, identifying faults or non-compliance, and collaborating with technicians and project managers to coordinate repairs or adjustments.

Tester will follow relevant standards, codes, and regulatory requirements, ensure accurate record-keeping,



and communicate clearly with clients and internal teams about system status and recommendations. The role may also include assisting with commissioning new installations, participating in safety audits, and supporting continuous improvement of testing procedures.

Qualifications

Strong technical aptitude for testing and inspecting fire protection systems, including sprinklers, hydrants, fire alarms, emergency warning systems, and related equipment.

Knowledge of relevant Australian standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements related to fire safety and system testing.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, system schematics, and equipment manuals.

Attention to detail and accurate documentation skills for recording test results, maintenance activities, and compliance reports.

Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with technicians, project managers, and clients on-site.

Strong problem-solving abilities to diagnose faults, assess risk, and recommend corrective actions.

Commitment to workplace health and safety practices and safe handling of tools, equipment, and testing devices.

Relevant trade qualification, certification, or experience in fire protection, electrical, or mechanical fields is highly regarded.

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client sites within Sydney and surrounding areas as required.
