Role Description The Freelance Event Host will lead live events and activations for AFROSOCIAL UK, representing the brand on-site in Sydney, NSW. This contract role involves welcoming guests, introducing speakers and performers, guiding event flow, and keeping audiences engaged throughout the program.

The Event

Host will make announcements, facilitate Q&A; sessions, manage transitions between segments, and collaborate closely with event coordinators, technical staff, and venue teams.

Responsibilities also include preparing talking points, familiarizing themselves with event schedules and key stakeholders, and adapting to last-minute changes while maintaining a skilled,



inclusive, and energetic atmosphere. The role requires availability for evenings and weekends depending on event timings.

Qualifications Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences confidently and clearly.

Experience hosting or MC’ing events, panels, or performances, including managing time and transitions on stage.

Ability to read the room, build rapport, and create an inclusive, welcoming environment for attendees.

Professional demeanor, reliability, and comfort representing a community-focused brand in front of guests, partners, and media.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including preparation of scripts, talking points, and event rundowns.

Ability to collaborate effectively with event organizers, production teams, and venue staff under time-sensitive conditions.

Understanding of or interest in the experiences of Black business owners, creatives, and professionals, and alignment with AFROSOCIAL UK’s mission.

Availability to work on-site in Sydney, NSW for events, with flexibility for evening and weekend schedules.

Prior experience in entertainment, media, events, or related fields is beneficial.
