The duties of the Graduate Lawyer include, but are not limited to:

· Assist in the provision of legal advice across a range of matters, including anti-doping, sport integrity, administrative law, privacy, freedom of information, governance and regulatory issues.

· Undertake legal research and prepare written advice, briefing notes, correspondence and other legal documents.

· Support lawyers in the management of anti-doping and sport integrity matters, including reviewing evidence, preparing case materials and assisting with results management processes.

· Assist in the preparation of documents for tribunals, external counsel and other legal proceedings

· Contribute to the drafting and review of policies, procedures and guidance materials to support agency operations and compliance with legislative requirements

· Assist in the processing of Freedom of Information requests.

· Provide professional, timely and accurate administrative support to the Legal team.

· Prioritise workloads and ensure that work is completed on time.

· Work collaboratively as a key member of the Legal team, across the agency’s business areas and with external stakeholders, to ensure that matters progress efficiently and effectively.

· Filing records in accordance with Commonwealth Government requirements for records management processes and security, including management and maintenance of document recording systems.

The accountabilities of the Graduate Lawyer include, but not limited to:

· Ability to handle sensitive information and always maintain confidentiality.

· Excellent organisational skills, ability to prioritise competing demands and manage multiple deadlines.





· Contribute to the agency's legal risk management framework by identifying legal issues and escalating risks as appropriate.

· Demonstrate sound judgement, professionalism and integrity, and uphold ethical and confidentiality obligations, including maintaining legal professional privilege where applicable.

· Actively participate in learning, development and mentoring opportunities to build legal capability and contribute to a high-performing team culture.

· Use AI-enabled tools in accordance with agency policies, skilled obligations, and privacy requirements to assist with legal research, drafting, and administrative tasks.

· Ensure that the APS Code of Conduct is adhered to at all times.

· Comply with all relevant legislation including Sport Integrity Australia health and safety policies, procedures and instructions and Sport Integrity Australia’s Information and Communications Technology and Information Governance Framework.

The key duties of the position include:

The selection criteria for the role are:

· A law degree from an Australian tertiary institution (or equivalent), and admission as a legal practitioner in a Supreme Court of a State or Territory (or in the process of gaining admission).

· Experience in providing administrative and legal support to lawyers is desirable.

· Proven ability to work independently, or under limited guidance, and exercise judgement with integrity,



initiative, drive and adaptability.

· Experience in the drafting of legal documentation, brief preparation, legal research and file management.

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills with staff and external stakeholders.

· Experience in successfully managing competing workloads to a high standard.

· Experience in Freedom of Information would be highly regarded.
