Role Description The Graduate Software Engineer (Hybrid, Entry-Level) role is a part-time position based in Melbourne, VIC, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows both on-site work and some work from home. In this role, the engineer will support the development and maintenance of internal software tools and web-based applications that streamline organizational processes. Day-to-day tasks include implementing features, fixing bugs, writing clean and testable code, and collaborating with senior engineers to review and improve technical solutions.

The engineer will participate in requirements gathering, documentation, and basic testing, ensuring deliverables meet quality and security standards. This position offers mentorship, exposure to real-world software projects, and opportunities to grow into more advanced responsibilities over time.

Qualifications

Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.

Practical experience or coursework in Software Development and Programming,



with at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript).

Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and ability to apply them to real-world coding tasks.

Exposure to Back-End Web Development, including working with APIs, server-side frameworks, and databases.

Bachelor’s degree (completed or near completion) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

Ability to learn quickly, follow coding standards, and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Positive communication skills and the ability to document work clearly and accurately.

Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and basic software testing practices is advantageous.

Interest in working within a professional association context and supporting internal stakeholders with reliable software solutions.
