At Maker Consulting Services we are looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Town Planner to join our growing planning team in Wollongong.

This is an opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on a diverse and exciting range of statutory and strategic planning projects while developing your technical, communication and project management skills that will set you up for long-term success.

Working directly with our Director of Planning and the broader Planning team, you will receive expert mentoring and hands-on experience across every stage of the planning process – from initial investigations and due diligence and beyond.

About the Role

Working closely with our Planning Director and the broader Planning team, you'll contribute to projects from inception to delivery and beyond

Your responsibilities will include





- Assisting with the preparation of a range of planning related documentation including general and due diligence advice, statements of environmental effects, scoping reports, environmental impact statements and planning proposals in accordance with the relevant legislation and state and local policies.

- Utilising and developing your written and verbal communication, and your critical thinking skills to interpret and apply the relevant legislation/ policy application to projects.

- Attending meetings with clients and other team members.

- Undertaking tasks including the collation of documents and other administrative functions relevant to the planning team, with a high level of attention to detail.

- Providing assistance to the Director of Planning and the broader Planning team where necessary, including during NSW LEC appeals.

You'll be encouraged to ask questions, learn from experienced professionals and progressively take on greater responsibility as your confidence grows.

About You

We're looking for someone who is curious, motivated and excited to build a career in planning.

You will have

- A completed (or soon-to-be completed) degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.

- Strong written communication skills and excellent attention to detail.

- Analytical thinking and an interest in interpreting planning legislation and policy.

- Strong organisational and time management skills.

- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

- The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
