(open to travel to Minto NSW in 12 months to a current and bigger factory)

PRIMARY PURPOSE

The primary purpose of this role is to manufacture drums for roller shutters to the required specifications, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately and efficiently. This includes assessing raw materials, accurately measuring, cutting, welding, drilling and finishing parts/components, operating relevant factory equipment such as the overhead crane, oxy-cutter and pedestal drill, and supporting the smooth movement of work through the production process.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Checking for hazards prior to commencing work and preparing work area for tasks of the day.
- Working in a safe, responsible manger and leaving work area clean and free of rubbish and any debris associated with works.
- Assessment of raw materials prior to commencing manufacture, including looking for faults and damage that may affect the manufacture of raw material into the finished part or component.
- Accurately measure all parts prior to and during the manufacturing process.
- Accurate welding, cutting, drilling and finishing of parts/components to allow for streamlined and correct installation of finished roller shutter products by on-site technicians.
- Communicating with other factory staff as parts and components move through the production process.
- Looking after company equipment and making sure all tools are securely and safely stored away before leaving the work area for any reason.
- Maintaining a clear, organised and safe work area in accordance with workplace health and safety procedures.
- Assisting with general factory, production and manufacturing tasks as directed.




- Operating the overhead crane in a safe and responsible manner, and ensuring you are aware of surroundings including other staff members, stock and equipment.

- Strong understanding of WHS requirements, and consistently implements them into daily tasks, including keeping work areas clean and tidy at all times.
- Competent at undertaking the full range of duties and tasks involved within their section.
- Flexible, willing and able to rotate workstations within their section to suit workload and team requirements.
- Understanding the application of quality control techniques, including the ability to recognise basic deviations/faults.
- Charged with overseeing particular tools & equipment under their management in their area, including informing relevant personnel if/when maintenance, repairs or replacement are required.
- Proficient in operating equipment used in the manufacturing process applicable to their area, such as overhead crane, oxy-cutter and pedestal drill.




- Perform all duties incidental and peripheral to the Employees work. Such work would not normally require additional training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

This role may require additional hours of overtime work to meet operational and job-related deadlines. Overtime rates will apply accordingly in accordance with the relevant Enterprise Agreement.

Currently based in Turrella/Wolli Creek. However, entire factory moving to Minto NSW by end of 2027. Looking for someone with enthusiasm and willing to travel to Minto when the time comes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

- Welding certificate, first or second class.
- Confident and proficient welder with at least 3–5 years’ experience, particularly in MIG welding.
- Ability to accurately measure.
- Ability to cut and prepare material to required size, using oxy-cutter, pedestal drill, powered and hand tools.
- Ability to overhead crane in accordance with site procedures and safety requirements.
- Operate trolley to move materials and stock within the workplace.

PERSONAL QUALITIES

- Demonstrates a professional, responsible and safety-conscious attitude at work.
- Presents fit for work and does not attend work under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Able to safely perform the inherent physical requirements of the role, including standing for extended periods.
- Able to safely undertake manual handling tasks required for the role, including lifting in accordance with safe work procedures.
- Willing to undertake further training, instruction or qualifications required to safely and effectively perform the role.
