- Abbotsford location | Hybrid Working Arrangements
- Make a difference in the lives of people living with HIV and LGBTIQ+ communities

About the role

We're looking for a passionate Health Educator to help lead our growing focus on LGBTQI+ women's health, working primarily on the Next Level - Advancing LGBTQI+ Women's Health Equity and Access project.

This is a chance to build something from the ground up: establishing an LGBTQI+ Women's Advisory Group, launching a peer-led cancer support group, and running education and awareness activities that help women understand their bodies and advocate for their own care.

You'll join our Health Promotion Team, working alongside peer educators and community members to plan, deliver and evaluate initiatives that respond to long-standing inequities in LGBTQI+ women's health. In this role, you will:

- Establish and work with an LGBTQI+ Women's Advisory Group to identify critical gaps in women's health and co-design community-led responses.
- Facilitate a peer-led LGBTQI+ women's cancer support group, offering culturally safe, trauma-informed connection.
- Deliver education and awareness activities - on topics like menopause and reproductive pain - that build confidence and health literacy.
- Collaborate with the broader Health Promotion and Community Engagement team on strategy, planning and evaluation.

What’s on offer In addition to a pay rate at SCHADS Award/SACS Level 3 + superannuation, Thorne Harbour Health pays above award rates.

You will also be able to increase your take-home pay by accessing up to $15,900 in salary packaging benefits as well as accessing qualified and career development. Hybrid working arrangements are also available.

About you

You will have a tertiary qualification/s in health promotion, public health, women's or gender studies or a related field OR extensive experience in LGBTQI+ women's health, community development or health promotion. You will also have:

- High-level writing and editing skills, with a knack for clear communication.
- Experience developing and delivering community engagement activities - social marketing, events, forums, workshops and volunteer coordination.
- A genuine understanding of LGBTQI+ women's communities and the issues they face, including sensitivity toward trans and gender diverse women, women living with HIV, and other at-risk communities.
- Experience turning policy into action - project management, funding submissions and grant writing.
- A proactive, cooperative approach and excellent interpersonal skills.
