HSE Advisor - Major BESS Project - South Australia - 10/4

UGL is a leader in Australia’s energy transition, delivering large‑scale solar, wind and battery energy storage (BESS) projects end to end across the country.

As an HSE Advisor, your first assignment will be the Goyder Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), a critical utility‑scale battery project set to double the storage capacity supporting grid stability and enabling further renewable generation across South Australia. The project includes civil works, underground electrical infrastructure, and high-voltage infrastructure such as the substation and overhead transmission line.

About the role

As an HSE Advisor, you will support site delivery across all construction activities, working closely with the Project Team and reporting to the site HSE Manager.

This is a hands‑on, site‑based role, supporting frontline teams, driving compliance, and ensuring consistent application of the HSE Management System across civil, electrical, high‑voltage, transmission and commissioning works. Strong field presence and practical engagement are key to success in this role.

Key responsibilities

Provide hands-on, day‑to‑day HSE support across site activities.

Support pre‑starts, toolbox talks and on‑site safety conversations.

Conduct regular site walks,



inspections and safety interactions.

Assist with incident reporting, investigations and follow‑up actions.

Manage HSE documentation, reporting and compliance with UGL’s HSE Management System.

About you

Experience as an HSE Advisor in renewable energy construction projects.

Comfortable working on a 10/4 roster.

Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or equivalent.

Ability to work autonomously while remaining highly team focused.

Strong site presence and practical approach to compliance.
