You've built the trade skills. Now it's time to build your career.
This is an opportunity for an ambitious carpenter or Leading Hand who wants to get off the tools and develop into a professional Site Manager. You'll work alongside experienced construction professionals, receive genuine mentoring and gradually take on more responsibility as your skills develop.
The Company For more than 30 years this builder has developed an outstanding reputation for delivering quality commercial projects and developing talented construction professionals.
They deliver projects across hospitality, education and general commercial sectors valued up to $40M and have built a solid pipeline of quality work.
The business is extremely organised with excellent systems, experienced Site Managers and a genuine commitment to training and developing its people.
Culture is also a big part of the business. They encourage teamwork, celebrate success and have an active social calendar including sporting events, dinners, drinks and company trips away.
Most importantly, they understand that becoming a good Site Manager takes time. You won't simply be given a title and expected to figure it out yourself.
What You'll Learn
Working directly alongside an experienced Site Manager, you'll learn how to manage a commercial construction project from the ground up.
Your development will include
- Managing and coordinating subcontractors
- WHS including inductions, SWMS,
toolbox talks and safety walks
- Short-term programming and planning your site
- Quality control and defect management
- Site set-out, deliveries and permits
- Working with consultants and clients
- Understanding the systems and processes behind successful project delivery
- Leading and developing people on site
As your experience and confidence grow, you'll take on greater responsibility before progressing into a Foreman or Site Manager role and eventually running your own projects.
About You
We're looking for someone who has already established themselves as a quality tradesperson and is serious about taking the next step.
You'll ideally have
- Carpentry trade qualification
- Strong and stable employment history
- Broad construction experience
- Cert IV or Diploma in Building highly regarded
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Genuine ambition to become a Site Manager
You don't need to know everything about running a commercial project yet. That's the point of the opportunity.
What matters is that you're reliable, hungry to learn, take pride in your work and are ready to start thinking like a Site Manager rather than just a tradesperson.
