About the role
Justice Network is seeking a Law Clerk or Paralegal to join our Aitken Whyte Brisbane office on a full-time basis.
We currently have two positions open: one in criminal law and one in civil litigation.
Experience in the practice area is preferred but not necessary.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your legal career within a dynamic and supportive legal environment. You will provide essential administrative and clerical support to our legal team, whilst gaining valuable practical experience in legal practice.
This role is based in Brisbane and offers the chance to work alongside experienced legal professionals in a collaborative setting.
What you'll be doing
- Performing general office administration duties to support the smooth operation of the legal team
- Assisting with legal correspondence and maintaining professional communication with clients and external parties
- Preparing and organising legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits, correspondence and court filings
- Conducting legal research and compiling research findings to support lawyers with case preparation
- Maintaining comprehensive file management systems and ensuring all documentation is accurately filed and easily retrievable
- Liaising with courts,
clients and other legal practitioners to obtain information and progress matters
- Assisting with the preparation of briefs, memoranda and legal advice for clients
- Proofreading legal documents for accuracy and compliance with formatting requirements
- Supporting lawyers with case administration, including scheduling, calendaring and deadline management
What we're looking for
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Experience in a legal office environment is preferred but not essential for the right candidate
- Knowledge of Queensland court procedures and civil litigation is advantageous
