The successful candidate will work closely with Marketing, Sales, Aftersales, Product and other business teams on national advertising campaigns, retail offers, product communications, customer matters and compliance initiatives.

This role would suit a lawyer with at least 3+ years of relevant experience who is comfortable managing matters independently, identifying practical legal risks and working in a fast-paced, growing consumer and automotive business.

About the Team

You will report directly to the Legal Manager in Australia.

You will also work with Geely’s Legal & Compliance Department at its headquarters in China in relation to global policies, cross-border matters, intellectual property, privacy, data protection and broader compliance frameworks.

The role involves regular collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Aftersales, Product, IT, Finance and other business functions to deliver clear, practical and business-focused legal support.

Key Responsibilities

- Work closely with Marketing, Sales, Product and Finance teams to ensure that advertising claims are accurate, appropriately substantiated and consistent across different channels.
- Maintain and update standard disclaimer templates, advertising guidance and internal review processes.
- Identify potentially misleading, deceptive or otherwise high-risk representations and recommend practical amendments.

Intellectual Property

- Advise on day-to-day intellectual property matters, including trade marks, copyright, brand assets, campaign materials, images, music, software and third-party content.
- Review licences, releases, image and content consents, sponsorship arrangements and intellectual property provisions in commercial agreements.
- Assist with trade mark portfolio matters, brand protection and the appropriate use of Geely and ZEEKR intellectual property.
- Support the business in responding to suspected intellectual property infringements or unauthorised use of brand materials.
- Liaise with external legal advisers and headquarters legal teams on intellectual property registrations, disputes and enforcement matters where required.

Customer Complaints and Dispute Management

- Provide legal support in relation to customer complaints, warranty disputes, consumer guarantee claims and regulatory enquiries.
- Review complaint histories, technical reports, service records and other supporting evidence.
- Draft or review customer correspondence, settlement communications, regulator responses and internal legal recommendations.
- Maintain appropriate complaint records, evidence logs and matter trackers.
- Work with Aftersales, Customer Care, Product and dealer teams to identify legal risks and support practical resolution strategies.
- Escalate significant, sensitive or potentially systemic issues to the Legal Manager promptly.
- Assist with matters involving consumer regulators, fair trading authorities, tribunals or external dispute resolution bodies.

Compliance and Regulatory Support

- Conduct legal and regulatory research and prepare concise, plain-English guidance for the business.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of compliance policies, procedures, registers and control frameworks.
- Assist with compliance monitoring, internal reviews, training programs and awareness communications.

- Maintain the compliance calendar, policy library, training records and related documentation.
- Support compliance initiatives relating to consumer law, privacy, franchising, competition law, anti-bribery and corruption, modern slavery and other relevant areas.
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and assist in assessing their impact on the business.

Commercial Agreements

- Draft and review commercial agreements, including supplier and service agreements, statements of work, non-disclosure agreements, licences, releases and standard form documents.
- Prepare clear contract summaries, risk assessments and deviation tables.
- Identify key legal and commercial risks and recommend practical solutions.
- Support contract execution, document management and related internal approval processes.
- Liaise with business stakeholders, external legal advisers and counterparties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

- At least 3 years of relevant post-admission legal experience gained in-house or in private practice.
- Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor or equivalent legal qualification.
- Admission as an Australian legal practitioner.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing advertising, marketing materials and consumer-facing communications.
- Sound knowledge of the Australian Consumer Law, including misleading or deceptive conduct, pricing representations, consumer guarantees and promotional offers.
- Experience handling customer complaints, disputes or regulatory matters.

- Strong legal drafting, analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to provide explicit, practical and commercially focused legal advice.
