Role Description The Legal Counsel (Litigation – Defamation) is a part-time remote role, requiring approximately 40 hours per month, supporting Advantage Group Australasia’s international investment activities and strategic partnerships. This role involves managing and advising on defamation-related litigation, including assessing claims, drafting responses, and coordinating with external counsel where necessary.

The Legal

Counsel will prepare and review legal documents, including pleadings, correspondence, settlement agreements, and risk management guidelines related to reputational issues. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing clear legal advice to leadership on defamation risks, media and communications strategies,



and dispute resolution options, while ensuring compliance with relevant laws across applicable jurisdictions. The role also includes participation in contract negotiations and review of communications materials to reduce exposure to defamation claims, and it is structured as a remote, part time position with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications Strong foundation in Law, with demonstrated experience in civil litigation and defamation matters.

Proficiency in Contract Negotiation, particularly in agreements that address reputational risk, confidentiality, and dispute resolution.

Expertise in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting pleadings, opinions, settlements, and correspondence for defamation disputes.

Ability to identify, analyze, and manage Legal Issues related to media statements, investor communications, and cross-border reputational risks.

Experience providing practical, business-oriented Legal Advice to executives and stakeholders in complex, international environments.

Admission to practice law in at least one relevant jurisdiction;

experience with common law systems is highly advantageous.

Prior experience in corporate, media, or investment-related law, with a focus on risk management and compliance.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise, and accurate documentation.

Capacity to work independently in a remote setting, manage limited monthly hours effectively, and prioritize urgent matters.

High ethical standards, sound professional judgment, and sensitivity to cross-cultural contexts in international transactions.
