What We Are Looking For We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Male Disability Support Worker to support a 50-year-old male participant based in Erskineville, NSW. The participant is looking for someone who can support him to get out into the community, attend events and activities, and build greater social participation and connection. He lives with schizophrenia and depression, so we are looking for a support worker who is patient, respectful, consistent, and comfortable providing psychosocial support.
Experience supporting people with psychosocial disabilities is highly regarded.
Experience with or a connection to the LGBTIQ+ community is also preferred, as creating a safe, inclusive, and comfortable support relationship is important. Shift
Details ? Location: Erskineville, NSW ? Preferred Day: Monday ⏰ Preferred Time: 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM ? Hours: 3 hours per week ? Day and time:
Open to discussion Responsibilities of the Role Support the participant to access and participate in the local community.
Accompany the participant to community events, activities, appointments, and social opportunities.
Encourage social participation, confidence, and meaningful community connections.
Provide reliable, consistent, and person-centred support.
Build a positive and respectful professional relationship based on trust and understanding.
Support the participant to make choices and maintain independence.
Provide transport as required for community access.
Use a patient, trauma-informed, and person-centred approach when providing support.
Respect the participant's individual identity, preferences, experiences, and communication style.
Maintain accurate progress notes and appropriate records following each shift.
Communicate professionally with the participant and the Chosen Family team regarding support needs and any relevant observations.
