- 12 month daily rate contract, longevity, growing team
- Melbourne CBD, hybrid, critial infrastructure
- Splunk & ThousandEyes essential

We are seeking a Network Security Engineer for a 12-month daily rate contract based in the Melbourne CBD with a 3-day hybrid office schedule. Joining a growing security operations team within critical infrastructure, you will focus on strengthening network observability, monitoring and NOC capability, with hands-on work across Splunk and ThousandEyes.

This long-standing environment offers excellent continuity, stability and exposure to enterprise-grade tools. If you enjoy solving complex visibility and performance issues and helping mature operational capability, this is an excellent chance to make a tangible impact.

About the Role

- Help build and mature a Network Operations Centre capability across a large energy distribution and critical infrastructure environment.
- Improve network observability and visibility, helping the team better identify performance issues, outages and service degradation.
- Design, configure and optimise Splunk, including dashboards, alerting, data ingestion, correlation and operational monitoring.
- Deploy and enhance ThousandEyes across enterprise, cloud, SaaS and network environments to improve end-to-end visibility.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across the network, applications, firewalls,

cloud and SaaS services, identifying where problems originate.
- Support the operationalisation of monitoring platforms through documentation, runbooks, alert tuning, handover and continuous improvement.

About You

- Strong hands-on Splunk engineering or administration experience is essential, ideally including Splunk ITSI and/or Splunk Observability.
- Strong hands-on ThousandEyes experience, including deployment, configuration, testing, dashboards, alerting and troubleshooting.
- Experience building or improving NOC, network monitoring or observability capabilities within a large enterprise environment.
- Strong network fundamentals across routing, switching, WAN, data centres, cloud connectivity, DNS and SaaS environments.
- Able to investigate performance issues using multiple data sources and distinguish between network, infrastructure and application problems.
- Experience with Palo Alto, Check Point, Netskope or AlgoSec is beneficial, but secondary to strong Splunk and ThousandEyes capability.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys improving visibility, solving complex network issues and building operational capability rather than simply maintaining an established BAU environment.
