About the role

EMT Medical Services is seeking compassionate and dedicated Patient Transport Officers to join our team on a casual basis. Based in Baringa, QLD 4551, this role is fundamental to our mission of providing safe, efficient and professional patient transport services to our community.

As a Patient Transport Officer, you will be responsible for the safe and dignified transportation of patients between medical facilities, hospitals, care centres and their homes. This position offers flexibility with casual work arrangements, allowing you to balance professional responsibilities with personal commitments. You will work as part of a supportive team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Key responsibilities

- Safely transport patients to and from medical facilities, ensuring comfort and dignity throughout the journey

- Assist patients with boarding and alighting from the transport vehicle, providing physical support as required

- Monitor patient wellbeing during transit and respond appropriately to any changes in condition

- Maintain accurate documentation of patient transportation, including times, destinations and any relevant observations

- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards of the transport vehicle and equipment

- Follow infection control and safety protocols at all times to protect patients and staff

- Communicate professionally with patients, families, healthcare staff and colleagues

- Respond promptly to transport requests and manage time effectively to meet scheduling requirements





- Report any vehicle maintenance issues or safety concerns to management immediately

What we're looking for

- Current or willing to obtain a valid driver's licence with a clean driving record

- Certificate III in Health or equivalent qualification in patient care, or demonstrated experience in a healthcare support role

- First Aid certification (CPR and First Aid) – current or willing to obtain

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations

- Physical fitness and capability to assist patients with mobility, including the ability to lift and manoeuvre equipment safely

- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting patient privacy

- Reliability and punctuality with the ability to manage a flexible, casual work schedule

- Knowledge of local routes and geography in the Baringa area and surrounding regions

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain) if transporting paediatric patients
